Officially out for the season with ACL tear
Don't need any math credits, not majoring in a science, don't need a seminar. Full 18 credit course load so I'm prepared to drop HIST 0101 if it's too much since I can knock out that gen ed whenever (and I also know it's a lot easier to drop classes than add them so I'd rather have a spot now vs try to find something when everyone is switching their schedules around)
Any feedback would be helpful on how to deal with Monday especially - regardless if I drop HIST 0101 or not, it'll definitely be a long day
I'm an incoming freshman at a college in Pennsylvania. I found my roommate through a forum provided through my school. We had a successful hour long+ phone call, and decided this could work. We talked during our phone call about what we did, our interests, academics (a little), etc, but not much. We share interests like business and investing, and we've both owned businesses throughout high school. We've texted semi-consistently since deciding on becoming roommates.
He's been traveling all over the place this summer, and I've mostly been working. We planned to meet up in NYC since he happened to be there and it's only around 6 hours from me (without traffic, I'm from New England) but plans fell through due to my parents- whatever. I've never seen a picture of him nor do I know anything besides his name and some interests basically. I'm nosey, so I googled him, and wow.... During our phone call, he asked if I had a LinkedIn. I said no. We moved on. However, I saw his LinkedIn... He's incredibly accomplished. Speaks 3 languages. 5.4 out of 4 gpa. Investment programs through Warton, hundreds of community service hours, around 15 APs (I thought I had a lot with 9!), numerous honors societies, and a very accomplished 2 sport athlete (he'll be doing club for 1 sport in college). I could tell he was smart and all, but I didn't realize it was this insane. I didn't try all that hard in high school and was slightly above average in my class. 1 honors society which I didn't even complete. I ran the school newspaper, ran by business (which has been a success, I have to admit), but that's about it. I'm going full pay while my roommate is going tuition free.
Enough backstory... I'm a bit worried now about our ability to make things work and be on the same page knowing that he's just way ahead of me. Additionally, based on our phone call, I had one concern- he's double majoring, and said he's planning to graduate ASAP to work at a big 4 accounting firm- a whole year and a half early I believe- which I didn't even think was possible. I'm not sure how I feel about having a roommate who is trying to finish as soon as they can. Personally, I want to take my time. I'm so excited to leave the people of my high school behind and move on, I'm in zero rush to finish college. He's taking a full 18 credits this semester- I'm at 16 and might drop a 1 credit seminar since I don't need it.
During high school, I mostly hung around people smarter than me. Nobody really knew that I actually wasn't all that good grades wise. But I'll be honest, I get jealous of people who just figure out stuff so quickly with ease, or have so many extracurriculars and certificates and stuff like that. Math has always been hard for me, it's not easy to watch people figure out everything effortlessly. The amount of tutoring and studying I did just to scrape by with low B's was insane.
So some advice would be helpful. I'm just not sure how to go about this and ensuring I don't feel bitter and jealous through the whole school year. I'm into business, I'm into investing, but I didn't do 6 month investing programs at the most prized business school in like the world. My accomplishments and resume are nothing close to my roommate.
I know housing assignments come out today (July 7) but does anyone know what time? I assume you find the assignment on the housing application portal.
