Will I still get placed into Calculus for Engineers if I got a 51 on the math placement test but a 4 on AP Precalculus?

I’m an incoming ASU engineering student and recently took the ALEKS math placement assessment. I scored a 51, and I’m worried that won’t be high enough to place into Calculus for Engineers.

One thing that makes me question the result is that I haven’t taken Precalculus in over two years. Since then, I’ve taken AP Calculus BC and AP Statistics. I did earn a 4 on the AP Precalculus exam, but that was back when the material was much fresher in my mind. Unfortunately, I only got a 2 on the AP Calculus exam, so I don’t have calculus credit from that.

I’m wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation at ASU. Does the ALEKS score completely determine placement, or can prior AP scores/coursework be considered? Has anyone been able to get into Calculus for Engineers after a lower ALEKS score because they had completed higher-level math courses?

Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks
