This is my first time using birth control. I got the Mirena IUD inserted about 4 months ago.

I can only find one of the strings, and it is very, very short. Is that normal? Do I need to go back to the doctor?

My first few periods after insertion were really painful, but it has been okay since. I haven’t had any concerning symptoms or pain, but I want to make sure. I will be getting married soon and want to be sure that the IUD is still effective. I also do not want it to puncture my uterus or anything if it has moved around.
