My Own family Conned Me & I might be homeless because of it
I will post what I have written in my GoFundMe. To make a short synopsis for all of you:
Some scammer on discord started messaging my brother and he was given a cheque. He begged me and my brother to cash it for him & even said it was for work. It was generated by chat GPT & I had sent the money and had to also pay it all back 😞.
Please please any considerations towards this It would mean the world to me as I feel super stressed beyond believe & also super vulnerable as I trust this person with my life.

Hey everyone. I am a victim of an “Authorized Push Payment” or “Induced Fraud” scenario, & was socially engineered by a trusted family member (who will remain anonymous) who was, themselves, a victim of the scam. It was a response to urgent, persistent requests from someone I ultimately trusted.
I would like to take this opportunity to explain that my banks technology failed to protect me against fraud. The mobile app allowed a cheque issued out from a third party to anonymous, to be deposited into my account. The system allowed the deposit of a cheque not in my name. This was without a secondary verification trigger or a warning that third-party cheques carry high fraud risks, & that it may be an infringement and or violation within my terms & conditions.
Please see attached: All of the instances regarding the conversation between anonymous & I. In the form of FaceBook Messenger Messages. Also include are the text messages between anonymous & the culprit.
The reason I am crowd funding over this is because I am between jobs right now & that money was not something I could afford to lose. This is a very real matter & my bank will do nothing about it because I am the one who deposited it. But it’s not fair. The cheque was held & I still gave this person the money… I am now out 3,000$. As I gave this person my own money because I believed in them so much. And am still responsible for paying them back.”
