High CPU temps (80-90°C) at idle/light load on Acer Nitro V 15 (ANV15-41-R732) - CPU clock stuck high, FPS drops in Valorant. Need help!
Hey everyone,
I bought an Acer Gaming Nitro V 15 ANV15-41-R732 about 4 months ago, and for the past few weeks, I've been having severe CPU temperature and clock speed issues.
- The Issue: My CPU temperature constantly sits between 80°C to 90°C, even when doing absolutely nothing (idle) or just watching videos and browsing the web.
- Strange CPU Behavior: The CPU clock speed never drops below 3.5GHz. In Task Manager, I even saw it hit 4.2GHz at 32% usage, which makes no sense because this CPU's max boost clock is supposed to be 4.0GHz.
- Low Usage vs High Clocks: CPU utilization is completely normal (7-18% browsing, 20-30% gaming), but the clock speeds and temps stay dangerously high.
- Gaming Impact: In Valorant, my FPS is highly unstable. I capped it at 165 FPS, but it drops constantly, averaging only around 130-140 FPS with heavy stutters.
What I've tried: Everything is fully updated to the latest versions (Windows, Nvidia drivers, Nitro Sense, etc.).
Why is my CPU aggressively boosting and overheating under zero load? Is this a background malware issue, a buggy Windows power plan, or a faulty Nitro Sense setting?
Any advice on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
