East Bay Neighborhoods and Walkability

Hi there!

My husband and I are looking to buy a house soon. I lived in San Francisco previously and now we live in Temescal, Oakland and love the neighborhood. I don’t drive, so walkability is really important to us.

We’ve been primarily looking in Temescal and Rockridge, but have been considering opening up our search to include south and central Berkeley to give ourselves more options (and possibly throwing the city into the mix — although most of our lives are in the East Bay now, but it definitely has more options for us). I find south Berkeley in particular charming, but I’m worried I might feel stuck without a car and feel far from San Francisco.

We’re also hoping to start a family soon, so that’s another factor in our decisions process.

I’m curious to hear from others with experience with those neighborhoods (south and central Berkeley); particularly those who made the move from SF to Berkeley. How did the change in lifestyle feel to you? Did walkability factor into your home buying decision?

Hoping for some honest thoughts about my dress. I love fashion and thought I would spend a lot more time searching for an interesting dress. I went wedding dress shopping and really hated the experience.

I ended up finding a dress at a sample sale that I liked well enough in the moment and ended up buying it right then and getting it altered down to my size. I never really felt it was “the one”. It’s probably too late to change anything, but thoughts on how I could accessorize or just feel more like myself in it would be helpful. Thank you!
