Urinary incontinence
We have a 12-13 year old female Shepard mix. She somewhat abruptly started having urinary incontinence about 1.5 months ago. The vet put her on Hills kidney and joint food, but it doesn’t seem to be working reliably. Not to mention, she hates it. She still has accidents, especially at night. Has anyone used it for incontinence?
The vet wanted to start her on that before a pill to protect her liver. But at her age, quality of life feels more important, especially since she doesn’t like the food.
How have people treated urinary incontinence in senior female dogs? Looking for advice and other considerations prior to checking back in with the vet.
Thank you!
