I’ve been looking into getting backyard chickens and I’m curious where people in Memphis are actually doing it legally and without issues. I know the city has rules about lot size, setbacks, no roosters, etc., but I’m trying to get real-world insight from people who either have chickens themselves or know somebody who does.

What neighborhoods or areas are the most chicken-friendly? Midtown? Cordova? East Memphis? Unincorporated Shelby County? Also curious if HOAs are usually the bigger problem than the city itself.

Would love to hear from anybody currently raising chickens in Memphis or who has neighbors doing it successfully.
