Cat Vet she’s 15+ yo

Hey y’all, Skitty had a pee accident and that’s never happened. She’s an indoor only cat. Only stressor I can think of is a different flea (lots of outdoor creatures and they come in on me) medicine. She hasn’t needed a vet visit in a decade.

Who y’all got? I’m leaning to Walnut Grove Animal Hospital.

Tax in comments.

are some of y’all blatantly racist or just slow?

Yesterday some white lady got mad at me because I tried to explain to her just because I’m Asian I was born in California. She refused to believe there was a possibility where I was born in America and not working at a nail salon or a Chinese restaurant. I’m not even Chinese. She was telling the group of people she was with “oh she’s Asian she’s used to the rain” I didnt know wtf that meant so I didn’t say anything. She later on found out I was born in California and she out loud said “wait you were born in America?!” Babe… I’m in my twenties does it really look like I came here on a boat or swam here??? Mind you my parents home country isn’t even near any water 😭😭😭😭

Have been living here for a little over a year now and I have never, EVER, had this many conversations with GROWN ADULTS about my ethnic background. And I’m not talking about nice conversations where people are genuinely interested, I mean conversations where I almost have to convince these people that I am not Chinese. Majority of the conversations they get upset at me when I try to explain not all Asians are Chinese people and not every person who is not white or black is not born in America.

Everywhere I go I am constantly being looked at like I’m a unicorn and majority of the time, I’m the odd one out at every event.

Is this normal for y’all? Has this city always lacked that much diversity where people are ignorant and slow?

EDIT: I guess the question I should be asking the Memphians is do y’all see the city progressing ever? 😭

TBI investigating National Guard involved shooting

Shooting took place last night. If you don’t beleive it you can confirm with TBI, MPD and attorneys for TN National Guard. They’re all involved even though media hasn’t yet reported anything yet.

Mods removed the last post because people wanted more details that I didn’t have. The above agencies have them and will release statements today/tomorrow.

Security at Tom Lee Last Night

I just wanted to report my experience last night getting into the event at Tom Lee last night.

There were two sections of lines. One for people with no bags and one for people with bags. While we stood in the no bags line, the group in front of us were holding large fireworks and discussing how they had guns on them.

The security checkpoint was ... one man with a handheld security wand. He was completely by himself with no one assisting him and no police near him if weapons were found, if there was an incident, etc. My partner and I were saying surely these guys in front of us aren't going to be allowed in. Welp. As they held their fireworks proudly in hand while being scanned... strapped with guns... They just... Went right in. The wand either didn't go off or it did and the guy was like well it's literally just me here what can I even do? I don't know.

Hundreds in the no bags line and one security guy.

Who knows how many people went in with guns.

Needless to say, we felt really unsafe and didn't stay in the park long at all. I know there were some incidents, people running en masse, fireworks being lit in the middle of the park with kids and bystanders everywhere, arrests, etc.

I just don't really get it. All the money spent on putting on this event, cops and security everywhere, but no real effort to actually enforce security at the entrypoint? One guy with a wand. I hope we do better next year. It was really sad seeing so many families leaving in the middle of the fireworks show.

Power out since 5pm..

Just keeping people posted, wanted to see if anyone had any new info? My power was out yesterday too but luckily came back around 9pm so it wasn’t too hot last night.

But tonight the power is out again and.. chile dis summa heat ain’t no joke, and I’m putting all my efforts into keeping my pets cool.

This sub needs a flair specifically for MLGW complaints.

Anyone else at Fireworks At Tom Lee 7/4??

We sat right on the bluff next to the security entry point. We heard the radio call for them to close the park due to a fight reported. We saw police on foot, police on horses and National Guard all moving south in the park.

Shortly after, a wall of people came running S to N and stopped right at the grass hill thing for some fighting. Crowd videoing and screaming. I saw one person arrested.

Fireworks weren’t halfway over and there was a crowd of people leaving.

Getting back to the car was a war zone. Kids shooting large fireworks in and around the crowd and running around Beale.

We went in a bar and then saw more runners with 3-4 cop cars following but they could only get so far. Traffic was at a standstill on every street downtown. If emergency vehicles were needed anywhere, there’s no way they could make it thru(driving on the sidewalks?).

I understand there were reports of a shooting and multiple fights.

I am not new to downtown Memphis or crazy mass events. There was a large police presence but most were stationary. We arrived at a little before 9 so I can’t speak for anything going on before the Purge.

I learned my lesson(again).

Help me find this camera’s owner

I just found a small digital camera on the Bluff Walk downtown - they were definitely there for the fireworks show. Went through a few pictures to help ID. Anyone know this guy? I think the camera owner’s name is Pedro!

Decent paying jobs ?

Does anyone have any idea where I could work that hires at a decent wage? I’m trying to make minimum 20$ per hour, I’m good with factory jobs and I been in restaurant management for over a decade. Everyone I check only pays like 17-18$ per hour and let’s be real nobody is living off of this.

My prefer shift is 4-5 am shifts
