St James Place alternatives (pensions/advisors)
I came to SJP through a pension search service, they offer a financial advisor service for free which I took because after a 2 year redundancy I wanted to get a better savings plan.
Anyway, the advisor was nice, gave me some good advice for my pension (£100k), although I'm not entirely convinced the projection was much better than my Scottish widow, it felt biased.
The time has come to signing some money over... 3% didn't sound too bad (basically £3k on my pension) but then another 3% every month on the £1600 salary sacrifice (£50).
so I've looked them up a bit more and can see this sub aren't a fan.
What I don't see anywhere, is any alternatives for pension plans; and how does one go about finding a good FA?
Because the whole pension rebate/ salary sacrifice is something that really benefits me right now (on a £120k salary with 1 kid still in nursery)
So, what is the best way to finding a good financial advisor and what fees should I expect to pay, or what tools are good to compare pensions? (I e. not paid-for rankings)
