LoRa at Houghton Festival

So me and two other friends bought some Muziworks R1 Neos last year after hearing about how useful they can be for areas with no signal. Three of us had these R1s and another three of us had T1000 cards (us with R1s also purchased the Muziworks extended aerials too for hopes of better range). I was a little sceptical after doing some reading since November last year due to range and how hindered your broadcasts can become due to buildings and wooded areas. I say wooded areas because Houghton Festival has many stages in dense wooded areas and another two stages that are quite literally dug into the ground. The festival lasted 4 days and with nearly 15 of us on a site with zero cell signal (and after consistently losing people last year) we thought this has to be a worth punt.

They were insanely good. Zero issues all weekend in tracking people down. We set up a private channel, allowed smart positioning via the meshtastic app and were consistently able to message people who were back in camp while we were 2-3km away at the other end of the festival. Either in the woods or in a pit in the ground we had no issues whatsoever.

This is more of an appreciation to those on this sub who helped me set things up and generally helped me understand how these things work.

If anyone is on the fence about buying this tech for this kind of use case, do it. Its impeccable and a purchase well worth making.

Moy (live) @ the Quarry

So not my first time at Houghton but it was my first time experiencing the quarry. Firstly, the stage itself is easily my favourite of the festival, its like Terminus on steroids. Love that its in the ground, love that it has lots of space to chill out and listen when you need a break and at night the lighting was amazing. I watched a few sets there this weekend but I wanted to give a big nod to Moys live set. Wow. Never seen him before and he absolutely blew me away, he found a brand new fan that day. Bravo, sir. I look forward to catching you again.

Montu update…

I had already posted about this today but its been removed despite saying i would update it once ive received a response. Anyway, here we are, Montu confirming that the best strain ive had on MC for both flavour and effects has been discontinued. Sad times. I really wish growers would stabilise their products instead of this constant merry go round. I have a couple
Of others but if they aren’t in stock then im left with expensive random guesses. 5g packs should become a thing here like they are in Germany.

This evening on the M25

Narrowly avoided a rear end collision this evening after a tailgating white van crashed into the car in front.
