Assalamualaikum. In a bit of a pickle here. I recently bought my first car (used) and had to get it transferred. I had received the biometric from the previous owner but i couldn't get it transferred like asap. There were some issues with the car that came up and needed to be solved first, which took up a good chunk of my time. Since this is my first car I don't have much experience with the transfer scene - i knew that the biometric expires in 2 months, and on my end i made sure that i did it before that.
So i head over to the excise office near clifton a few days before the biometric expires. There the guy told me that even though it hasn't expired yet, their "system" gives a time period of 30 days after which they levy the late fee - of which i had no knowledge. The transfer itself costs around 10k, and the late fee was 10k on top of that.
I asked the guy at the reception in the basement if there's a way i can work around this since i have money issues, and he told me that they will lift the late fee charge if i get a new biometric. So i contacted the owner and got a new biometric in like a week or two.
I head over to the excise office again, but this time the same guy tells me that they wouldn't lift the late fee charges even after the new biometric because there's no law/instruction/ whatever that says that it's gonna be lifted. And cuz time was still going by while i was doing all of this, the late fee charges stacked and now i have to pay around 30k in total.
The guys at the office offer no help whatsoever, and wouldn't take accountability for the misinformation either. So i ask you good people if there's anything i can do about this, or who i can contact about this.
