G'day!

Im resorting a jotul F100 ( technically a heater not a stove sorry) and have recently bought a new baffle plate.

I was expecting a heavy steel one from the shop but what came was a vermiculite one.

I've never used or even knew about this type until I picked it up.

Are these superior to a steel one? Is there anything I should be aware of before i install it?

It feels very brittle, should I be concerned it'll break as soon as I jam a log in to burn?
