My (20F) roommate (21F) doesn’t want me in the shared space while she takes her final exams.
This week is finals week at my university and I had one exam today. When leaving, my roommate texted me not to go back to our apartment for the next two hours and if I was to do so “silently” and not to go into the kitchen or living room for the next few hours because her and a friend were studying and doing an online final exam together. I texted her back, asking her why she doesn’t do it in her room or literally ANY of the other many on-campus locations (we have a library, student center, plenty of seating in academic buildings, and our apartment complex has private study rooms available in the lobby) and she told me she just “likes doing it in the kitchen”. I don’t really see this as fair to me, considering this is probably going to happen almost every day this week and I also pay rent and bills, so her telling me to not go into the kitchen or living room for hours at a time just to cater to her seems rather inconvenient for me. What should I tell her or do? She doesn’t seem to be budging on this.
