My old VM95E cartridge that I used on my AT120 turntable recently broke and I bought a replacement of that same model from my local record shop a few days ago. It worked fine for the first few uses but now I notice that anytime I use it the vinyls sound crunchy and it appears that my stylus hangs a little too close to the record itself. I’ve already tried adjusting the counter-weight and the anti-skate but neither resolved the issue. As well as this, as I was testing it on an old record it would start clearish and slowly become more crunchy as the track went on. I am starting to wonder if maybe another part of my player is the problem and I don’t want to but another stylus. Anyone who might know how to help?
