Post Military Career

Hello,

I am going to retire in 2 years from the military (40 years old) and have a desire to go into the dental hygiene field. I work in the medical field of the military but have never worked in dentistry.

The reason I want to do this job is because i always enjoy cleanings, the detail of it all, the end result of a satisfied patient—however i find that some DH talk too much while doing the job. I’m an introvert to the fullest extent and not talking while doing my job is right up my alley.

The military works in mysterious ways. When I get out, I will have no certifications or licenses to have under my belt. I am nearing an AA in Health Sciences but some school won’t take my clinical experience as compensation for college courses…I have to redo A&P after 20 years of exams, procedures, and assessments that I’ve given doctors- rather frustrating.

Anyhow, has anyone in the group gone my route? Am I dreaming of something that may take me longer than I think it should take?

Lots of questions from me if you’ve got the time. Take care and thanks for all that you do!

Damn- that felt good.

On my way to run an errand I went into the minimart for some snacks and water. When I went to pay the clerk told her coworker that I was “hot” and her co worker replied, “yes, he is.” With huge smile on her face. I can’t tell you the butterflies I felt and the blushing face I had. Felt so good to be noticed like that after years of not hearing that. “And your hair is so nice too.” WOW.

Have a great day everyone.

Thunder up! Beat the breaks off LA tonight, boys.

What is the pregame song with that “turn the lights out” or “when the lights go out” that plays while Rumble is getting loud city fans going. Absolutely insane to witness first hand when floor level btw. Highly recommend you do if you can in your life.
