This is a Finnish-language subreddit. English posts belong in r/finland.

If you see posts in English here in r/suomi, you need to turn the automatic translation off. If you ended up here from Google, you are probably not seeing things in Finnish.

If you'd like to discuss Finland in English, please go to /r/finland.

Comments and posts in English will be removed. Other than this one, I guess.

Thank you!

[Live thread] Eurovision Song Contest 2026 Turquoise Carpet @ 17:00 CEST - May 10 2026

TURQUOISE CARPET ON YOUTUBE

What is The "Turquoise Carpet"?

The Turquoise Carpet is an annual event in the Host City, which also serves as the official Opening Ceremony to start the week of Eurovision Song Contest Live Shows.

It's the Eurovision version of a typical red carpet, where the contestants will dress up in their finest fashion and give interviews to various media outlets from all over Europe and Australia. Many iconic Eurovision moments have occurred on this very carpet!

According to Eurovision's website, the Turquoise Carpet Event begins at 5 p.m local time. This will be the only time when all 35 delegations appear together in Vienna. In alphabetical order, each will walk from the Burgtheater across the Turquoise Carpet toward City Hall, with Austria emerging last as the Host Country. The Woodstock Allstar Band will welcome each delegation with music that represents their country, while the ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra will add a ceremonial touch. The event is set to culminate with JJ’s winning song for Austria, Wasted Love, performed with the RSO Vienna.
