Hi everyone,
I’m posting here because I’ve been asking myself a lot of questions about my relationship with my sexual orientation, and I’d like to know if others are experiencing something similar.
I’m in my twenties, mostly attracted to men (bi/gay), but I have trouble recognizing myself in many of the current representations of the LGBT+ community. Whether in the media, apps, or even certain places, I often feel like sexual orientation is heavily emphasized as part of one’s identity, with codes, attitudes, or styles that are quite marked.
Personally, I feel pretty “classic” in the way I am: my sexuality is part of me, but it doesn’t define my entire personality or how I behave. And as a result, I sometimes feel a sense of disconnect, even isolation, as if I don’t really find people I can relate to.
I want to clarify that this is absolutely not a judgment toward anyone — everyone lives their identity in their own way, and that’s perfectly fine. It’s really a matter of personal feeling and representation.
Does anyone here relate to this?
How do you experience this in your daily life (relationships, friends, dating, etc.)?
Have you managed to find environments or people you feel more in sync with?
Thanks in advance for your feedback 🙏
