Priest asked me a question…

So I’ve posted recently about my inquiry into orthodox Christianity. If you want to see some background go and look at those.

However today my local parish priest asked me a question that I am unsure how to respond to and wanted to ask you guys about it. I obviously have no gauge as to what is normal and what is not so I wanted to see everyone else’s opinion on the matter.

To get right to it I spoke about my young son who is only two years old and in speaking about some personal, tough life business concerning him, my priest sent me this message:
“I’d love to see a picture of your son…”

I have met him twice in person at services and catechumen classes and of course texted him over his phone line. He seems good, but is this a valid thing to request?

Questions from a pagan

Good morning everyone,

I’ll get right to it! I have never been Christian in my life. At first I generally knew absolutely nothing about it. Lately however, I’ve been listening to a LOT about Christian history. I have especially been listening to stuff about the early church, and east-west divide and eventually the schism. I haven’t really learned much of the theology at all, but I could tell you what the Filioque is and why Catholics love it so much lol.

All of that to say, that I still don’t know much of the actual SUBSTANCE.

Part 2 of this: I recently endured a personal tragedy, and still haven’t really recovered some months later. The sadness can be overwhelming at times. When it comes to my spiritual life, I have never really been one to ignore signs. It feels as though I’m being pulled to learn more about Orthodoxy. I keep seeing it on online feeds. I got brought to this subreddit without searching for it. I feel drawn to go to one of the churches nearby. Therein lies my actual question.

As someone who knows 0 about the etiquette or… how to exist in a church lol - am I able to just show up one day and talk to one of the priests? What would be the proper way to get to talking to them? Should I go on a Sunday or are the clergy usually staffed throughout the week? What else SHOULD I do?

Truth be told, I am scared/worried about all of it. It’s all so foreign to me but I still feel called to learn.
