What was the background to Brooker v DPP?

Brooker v Director of Public Prosecutions [2005] 169 J.P. 368

This was the case where the appellant had been convicted under the Criminal Justice Act 1988 for possessing a blunt butter knife without a handle.

I’m curious as to the context for the original conviction, and why it was considered necessary to prosecute this individual for possessing the butter knife in question. Does anyone have any information on this aspect of the case?

Cirith Ungol vs Defenders of the Pelennor?

I’ve got my second game of MESBG coming up this week. I’m playing Cirith Ungol (Shagrat, Gorbag and a load of Mordor Uruks and Orcs) against Defenders of the Pelennor (Gimli, Legolas and Army of the Dead).

Any advice you can offer on how to approach it? I’ll be approaching it mostly as a learning game rather than worrying about being overly competitive, but would like to give my opponent a good game if possible.

Must admit, I’m struggling a bit on how to play this one. Both opposing heroes look pretty formidable, and there doesn’t really seem anything there I can easily kill?

A Few Trusty Lads

Making a bit of progress on the orcs of Cirith Ungol.

Out of interest, anyone know why Mordor Uruks are so restricted in their equipment choices in this edition? As I recall, the “bigger sort” of Mordor orcs are described as using spears and bows in Return of the King, and it seems a bit weird that they’re being sent into battle without shields.
