The Omen Curse, and Messmer's Crusade.
So... I've been thinking about somethings lately.
And something occured to me.
It's stated in some Item descriptions related to Commander Gaius that Radahn had been aware of messmer, before messmer was effectively exiled.
Which would mean that There had to have been time for Messmer, a Child of Marika and affiliated with the golden order, to meet and get to know Radahn, a child of The Carian Royalty... The only time I imagine this could have happened is at some point after Godfrey's banishment.
Which would also mean that the Crusade occured sometime after Morgott and Mohg's birth, and the advent of the Omen curse.
Now we know that the Omen Curse is connected to the hornsent, from the words of the Hornsent Grandam, quoted below.
"A curse upon thee, rotten miscreant. A curse upon the strumpet's progeny, upon Marika's children each and all. The curse of the omen shall strike thee down..."
So... Since Messmer was around to pal around with Radahn, and Morgott and Mohg would have been born already when that could have occured... This means that the omen curse happened BEFORE the Crusade...
Which means it obviously couldn't have been in retaliation for the Crusade.
Does this mean that The omen curse is a retaliation by the hornsent for THE VEILING of the Land of Shadow?
And does this mean that the Crusade itself, could have been launched in Retaliation for the Omen Curse instead?
I can sort of see what might have happened here. We know that Marika, way back in the day, was possibly "Kinder" than she would be later, from the Minor Erdtree Description.
"The Kindness of Gold, without Order."
It's often thought that the Crusade against the Hornsent was done out of Marika being vengeful for the fate of her people...
But could we have the timeline wrong?
Could Marika originally, in a less jaded and bitter state, have claimed "Revenge" by just... Veiling the Shadow lands, Locking off the Hornsent in a forsaken land, the god their ritual had created effectively abandoning and forsaking them for their crimes?
And then only later, when the curse of the Omen struck Marika's kids, and investigation into it would reveal the hornsent's hand behind it to Marika... Did Marika, now more bitter and jaded by the shit that had happened since, crash out hard due to the attack on her children in this most heinous of manner, the tormentor's of her past having come back and hurt her and her family AGAIN?
Food for thought.
What do you all think, Am I potentially on to something here, or am I delusional?
