Why does my hair always look dry and get split ends so fast?

Why does my hair always look dry and get split ends so fast?

Hi everyone! I’m looking for some advice about my hair because I feel a bit lost 😭

My hair constantly looks dry/frizzy, especially in the mid-lengths and ends, and I get split ends really quickly even after trims. I attached a photo so you can see the texture better.

I’m also not really sure what my hair type/texture is. It’s not fully straight, but it’s not properly wavy either? Sometimes it gets fluffy and uneven instead of smooth waves.

Right now I use a shampoo and conditioner from my hairdresser that are specifically made for damaged hair. I also use hair oil regularly on my lengths and ends, plus a leave-in conditioner. I also use a Bumble and Bumble heat protectant spray before blow drying my hair.

I don’t bleach or dye my hair at all, but I do use a hair dryer regularly.

I also have low ferritin/iron deficiency. My doctor currently doesn’t want to give me iron infusions, but I do take iron supplements that also contain folic acid. I’m wondering if that could also affect my hair quality/health?

Does anyone have an idea what could be causing the dryness and breakage? And maybe tips on:

  • figuring out my hair type,
  • reducing split ends,
  • making my hair softer/shinier,
  • or products/routines that actually help?

Thank you 🫶
