DONT get your CCW until you know about this!
UPDATE: After so many messages I realized this must have been something that I just missed or did not remember. Hope This still helps someone or at least reminds them of this when they plan on applying.
Well guys this sucks Ill keep it short and sweet.
After 2 years and about $1000+ spent I got my CCW via LAPD in LA County.
Little did I know that 5months into being a CCW holder my CCW would become invalid and I would have to restart the whole process over again. WHY? you ask
Because if you move to a different county your CCW becomes invalid in 90 days and you must reapply and go through the same process all over again in the new County.
I moved from LA county to Ventura county and even tho they are both is CALIFORNIA just because I moved counties I have to redo everything. Make that make sense please!
Its a CALIFORNIA permit not a county, so why do we have to restart if me move within the state?
Imagine having to get your drivers license from scratch (take written test, driving test) all over again every time you moved within the State.
I dont know if this information was given or if its not known but I only remember the rule of having to notify your issuing agency when you move, nothing about CCW becoming invalid if you move to different county.
At this point this is no longer short nor sweet but I basically see it as a scam. You get a CALIFORNIA permit (same as CA DL) but if you move counties its not invalid)
The only time I can make sense of this is if your CCW issues in LA county can only be used in LA County but thats not the case, you LA county CCW can be used all over the state so the freaking F do I have to shell out another $1000 and months if not years of wasted time.
Does that seem fair or constitutional? Did anyone else know about this issue or has experienced it?
