Inconsistent views on shorts

I’m looking for genuine advice on how to grow my YouTube channel. I post Shorts consistently every day at the same time, and my goal is to reach 1,000 subscribers within 3 months while also getting more consistent views. If feasible, please go through my content to analyze and see any areas of improvement

Right now, my channel, “viralunfolded,” has 20 subscribers and 18 Shorts uploaded. Two of my Shorts performed really well, reaching 23k and 25k views, but most of my other videos struggle to get even 100 views.

I feel like I may be doing something wrong on my end, but at the same time, it also feels like the algorithm isn’t pushing my content consistently. I’d really appreciate honest feedback, suggestions, or strategies on what I should improve to grow faster and maintain steady performance across my Shorts.

Is Escaping YouTube Shorts 0-View Jail Just Pure Luck?

I genuinely believe 0-view jail on YouTube Shorts exists. The problem is: there’s endless “proof” that it happens, but almost no real evidence explaining how people consistently escape it.

I’ve searched everywhere, Reddit, YouTube videos, forums, Discords, and tried almost every common suggestion:

  • warming up channels
  • changing upload times
  • using old Gmail accounts
  • verified channels
  • hashtags/keywords
  • deleting & reuploading
  • avoiding reused content
  • editing more heavily
  • posting consistently
  • changing titles/captions
  • using trending audio

None of it has worked consistently for me.

What confuses me most is this:
One channel got a 23k Short early on, then suddenly multiple videos after that got 0 views. Another channel never really escaped the low-view cycle at all. So it doesn’t even feel predictable.

At this point I honestly want to know from people who ACTUALLY escaped 0-view jail after getting repeated 0-view Shorts:

  • What exactly changed?
  • Was it gradual or random?
  • Did consistency eventually fix it?
  • Was it content style?
  • Did you abandon the channel and start fresh?
  • Or is this genuinely just luck + timing?

I’m not looking for generic “make better content” advice. I want real experiences from people who went from repeated 0-view Shorts to consistent views and growth.

Short got 0 views after 25k views

I warmed up my channel for 5 days before posting. The Gmail account is 5 years old, the channel is verified, and I configured all the required settings properly. Here’s what happened afterward:

  1. I started posting Shorts between 7:00 and 7:30 PM local time. The Shorts uploaded on May 6 and May 7 received 45 and 19 views, respectively, but most of those views came from my other channels using different Gmail accounts.
  2. Later, I made a Reddit post about not getting views, where I learned that watching my own videos from multiple accounts could hurt performance. After I stopped doing that, my May 8 Short suddenly got 25k views, and my subscriber count increased from 4 to 12.
  3. However, the May 9 Short only received 85 views, and the May 10 Short got 0 views even after 24 hours. I edited the video, changed the thumbnail and title, but nothing changed. On May 11, I re-uploaded it with further thumbnail and title changes after making the previous upload private, but the result was still 0 views.
  4. At this point, how should I approach the situation? Should I continue posting consistently, or is there something else I should be doing? Also, I usually keep my Shorts unlisted for at least 1 hour before making them public between 7:00 and 7:30 PM local time.
  5. Please do share how many of you have managed to escape this situation and eventually started getting consistent views, subscribers, and likes. My main goal with this channel is to eventually generate at least some level of revenue from YouTube.

I’m currently stuck in what feels like a complete 0-view jail on YouTube Shorts. Here’s everything I’ve done before, during, and after uploading:

  1. I created a new channel using a decade-old Gmail account and started uploading Shorts after 2 days. The first Short got around 90 views, though honestly, about half of them came from my own secondary accounts.
  2. The second video suddenly reached 9.5K views, which got me excited pretty quickly. My first Short was uploaded on April 12, and the April 13 upload hit 9.5K. After that, I uploaded 1 Short daily until April 17. Those next 5 videos all stayed under 50 views, and yes, I also watched those from my other accounts.
  3. I then took a 3-day break and uploaded again on April 21, which got around 20 views. I skipped April 22 and uploaded consistently from April 23 to May 1. One video uploaded on April 26 reached 340 views, while the rest remained under 50.
  4. After that, I took another 5-day break and uploaded again on May 6. That video got around 20 views, and the May 7 upload performed similarly.
  5. During that 5-day break, I tried warming up a completely new channel created under a 5-year-old Gmail account. For about 2 hours daily, I watched, liked, commented on, and subscribed to Shorts within the same niche. I uploaded on May 6 and 7, but both videos still got under 30 views.
  6. My Shorts are usually between 20–45 seconds long. Each edit takes me around 2–3 hours, and I also work a 9–5 job. I genuinely believe the content quality is good, and my editing has improved a lot. I use background music, sound effects, arrows, circles, transitions, motion effects, and more. I edit everything in CapCut Pro, export in 4K at 30fps, and upload from my laptop.
  7. At this point, should I just continue uploading consistently for another 30 days, or is there something else I should be doing? I honestly feel the Shorts I’m making are capable of getting thousands of views.
  8. Initially, I uploaded the first 8 videos while targeting the US audience and posting at US-friendly times. Recently, I switched to uploading at 7:00 PM local time, and I plan to stay consistent with that schedule. Around 10 videos have already been uploaded at that timing.
  9. If anyone here has escaped this kind of situation before, I’d really appreciate hearing your thoughts or advice.
