I need advice

I recently got a root canal on my last upper molar on my right hand side. It’s the most important tooth to put metal banding around for all of my braces to connect to.. however my dentist seemed to have shaved down my permanent crown in order for my bite to be flush with the other molar. I don’t know if I’m making sense, but basically my permanent crown was too tall and so she had to shave down the height of it so that I can have a proper bite. I do currently have an under bite however, my crown is so sensitive now air irritates it, anything merely warm or slightly cold irritates and it’s a deep ache. I went back to the dentist and they did an x-ray and saw that all of the roots are taken care of, so I just don’t understand where this major sensitivity is coming from. I called and made another dentist appointment, but I just don’t know what this could be. Did she perhaps shave my tooth down way too much to the point where my actual tooth underneath is showing.?
