Therapist Ran info through AI?
I’m in need of some advice for a frustrating situation.
My spouse (nonbinary, they/them) has been going to therapy for gender affirming care in CA, and just got handed a letter from their therapist that they needed for their surgeries to be approved by insurance.
My frustration is that when they were handed the letter, the therapist told them they ran it through AI for errors which he did not ask for consent to do. The letter has their name, birthday, and sensitive information about their life and transition. On top of that, the letter seems like it was either completely made in AI or he just does not know what he is doing.
The letter he wrote consistently misgenders my spouse, has very incorrect information about their social transition journey, and has suggestions for surgeries they did not ask for.
What do we do? My spouse has been sent to him to get medically necessary documentation to get gender affirming care, but he told my spouse he doesn’t even know what transgender people do about dysphoria.
My spouse and I want to report him for clearly not being a LGBT friendly therapist and being someone that they were required to see to get medical care, and I feel like he went against HIPAA violations by putting very private information about them through AI. But I have no clue where to start or who to reach out to.
