Long story short, I’m a complete fucking moron and decided that my first motorcycle should be a project bike I rebuilt myself because I want to learn how to work on them.

This ended up with me buying a used 2001 Suzuki Intruder VL1500 with the dealership service manual for $350 title in hand and a new goal of getting the bike roadworthy.

The first issues I run into are that I need a new exhaust as well as essentially rebuilding the clutch from the ground up since the guy tipped it over and hadn’t ridden it since for 2 years (I’m still cleaning out all the dirt & shit from the frame, but it’s straight and the engine appears to be undamaged from many impacts—no dents or otherwise)

To make it simple, where should I start in terms of picking up parts? Making sure that I have the right bits for rebuilding the clutch so that I don’t accidentally buy parts i already have? Is there a database of some kind I can use for this? What would I need for the exhaust system and are there any other concerns I should look into that I didn’t think about?

Thank you for your time,

-A new motorcycle mechanic

PS: I put pictures of the bike in the comments so y’all have a good look at the setup
