Quite confused about the new album launch party things.

I bought a ticket to the launch party at New Century Hall in Manchester.

I have been quite confused with like the marketing and advertising for it.

Is it going to be an album listening party, where they play the album through speakers, I attended the Strokes one in London.

Or will they be playing?

I am expecting the former rather than the latter. But I am excited either way.

Getting a tad insecure. What is it I can expect when I go to University?

Hey. I am 18 years old age wise, 165cm height wise, UK, country wise, and about a 7/10 nervousness wise for going to university in September. My parents are 5'1 and 5'6.

I have never really been super insecure with my height, I was mildly bullied through high-school, but once it got to year 11, people just grew out of it, mainly because I started taking care of myself looks wise, never went to the gym but plan to at uni.

I am quite a self-isolating person, meaning that I push people away because I adore my own solidarity, but I had a group. A group full of tall people, but I was still valued. That's my biggest worry about university, that I won't find my people. That people won't value me or treat me like I want to be treated.

Girls wise, I am mixed. There's a girl that I have really liked, and has liked me back for about 3 years now, but I have never been ready for a relationship, because of my own self-isolation. Some sort of super talking-stage. And I am hoping that I can reinvent my confidence and finally ask her out, whilst she is still single. A lot of you reading this are probably like "Yeah fuck this dude". I don't blame you. I have still never had a first kiss, but I am not too worried about it.

I am quite a confident person even with social anxiety - I try and say yes to the things that I want to do, and I say yes to things I don't want to do and then cancel later. I always try to entertain, be funny and confident, and in sixth form when I went to parties... it worked..? I have many friends who are girls, and yes I have been subjected to the old 'if you were taller I would date you' chestnut, which is a blow but I bounce back.

My biggest worry is people just going back to making fun of me, maybe like how it was at high-school. Especially because I am someone who enjoys clubbing, who enjoys parties, and wants to experience the nightlife, and not be subjected to potential insults from women and men.

The last two weeks I have just fell really insecure about my height, after years avoiding the 'bp' and 'heightpill' slop on TikTok, it has made me question my worth, my purpose. I do weekly pub quizzes with my friends but I called it off last week because of it, and I went this week, and I was too scared to order a drink. That's not me. And this standard is so goddamn tiring. The whole 'it's over for you bro' shit is just embarrassing.

I am also quite worried for my future. As someone who wants to work in either teaching or politics and make lives better, are people gonna take me seriously? Teaching especially, from first hand experience I know how badly the short male teacher gets treated. (They are also boring, unfun teachers)

I don't like change, but also I don't love my current situation, and I need to move.

For people from the UK, or not from the UK, who went to university/college as a guy on the shorter side, what was it like for you?

If I get rejected from Lancaster as firm, can I still get in through clearing?

Hello! I would like to know of anybody who may have been rejected from Lancaster, and gotten into the university through clearing.

I am studying History and Politics, needing an ABB, but thinking I’ll get somewhere closer to BBC.

What are the chances of me still getting in?

What is the job search like at Lancaster?

I am (hopefully) a future student coming in September, and I would like to know how the job search experience is like for people.

I’m quite concerned at the fact I have no experience in work so I may be disadvantaged.

How have people gone about getting work? Have people with no prior experience been able to get work?

Does anyone else forget HIMYM had a laugh track?

I was speaking to a group of friends, and we were discussing comedy shows mainly ones with laugh tracks like The Big Bang Theory and friends and then one of us mentioned that How I Met Your Mother, which we all love, had a laugh track and it was kind of a shock and it was almost a coming of realisation that the show had one.

I hadn’t watched the show in a hot minute, so I watched a few of my favourite episodes to refresh my memory. And the laugh track is just insanely subtle. Is it because unlike Friends or TBBT, HIMYM wasn’t filmed infront of a live audience? Was it? Unlike many other comedy shows with laugh tracks, in HIMYM it doesn’t drown out the conversation at all, with dialogue usually talking over the laughter

Anyone else like this too? Or is this a truly an individual experience?

10 Months On : Megz Of Ram

It’s been 10 months since the release of Megz, and I hadn’t listened to it in a hot minute.
(Kinda on a bit of a music hiatus, except for the new strokes stuff)

I still absolutely adore it. I think Unholy Lover is some of the best Julian work in the 2020s. Blue Demon is a song that I absolutely despised when it came out, once again it grew on me and started to enjoy it.

Russian Coney Island I think is the worst track on the EP, catchy, but doesn’t live up to the hype as the live version did. And drifto was wonderfully weird. Really enjoyed it.

Y’all still listening to the songs from it? What’s your thoughts + favourite song from it?
