Jackson vs Watkins
Was reading about Ian Watkins (Lostprophets) and it strikes me that whereas Watkins’ fetish was about corrupting and stealing innocence in a malevolent, sociopathic way, Jackson’s fetish was about enacting innocence with his victims. It seems he liked to fantasise that he and his victim were ‘discovering’ sex together - having their first tentative experiences with each other. He said to Safechuck ‘you taught me how to French kiss’, for example. To justify this to himself, he wanted desperately to believe he was a child trapped in a man’s body, and he wanted us to believe that too. I think fantasy and reality were not easily distinguishable to him, as with all narcissists who are both self-aware and deeply in denial, awake and asleep, manipulative and sincere all at once at all times. When he said ‘I could never harm a child’, he meant ‘how can it be harmful for two innocent children to share moments of sexual discovery and experimentation together? It’s normal and natural!’
