Glockkitors - need some advice.
Here's the deal - fairly new to handguns and am all aboard the glock train. I've got gen 5 19 and 26, the pseudo 26x (GS MX1), and recently picked up a 17L classic as it was calling to me from afar.
The issue is(was) this - I'm all over the place on the target. The 19 was the first and I do like it a lot, but after getting CCL, I thought something smaller would be in order... and used that as justification to buy more stuff. The 26 is cute, but a bit short (though the +0 grip pearce mag extender helps). The MX1 combines the two and it ends up being a much better fit. That said, I've been struggling to get consistent groupings (I'm sure they're not perfectly zeroed in, but just focusing on replicatable follow up shots at this point) - which has lead me down the rabbit hole of grips, stances, etc - which all ends up being moot so long as the grip/stance/etc gets the job done)
While I know it takes range time/dryfire (i did get the mantis/titanx, but haven't had much of a chance to use it all) to get good/consistent, after a couple hundred rounds today and as the clock was running down, I tried the 17L for the first time. Effing night and day for me - shots on target, good groupings, and felt great. I lurv it... but it's a bit much for concealed carry.
So the questions are:
Aside from the longer barrel/slide, is there anything specific to this exact model that is
a) different and or not present on the gen 19/26
b) present in other gens/models that would be better for carry and/or
c) anything I can do to the 19/26 to allow them to have more of the 17L's 'je ne sais quois'
(or d) it's just the barrel/slide, stupid)
Pertinent bits of info:
- regular sized hands
- astigmatism
- would like to keep it w/in the 9mm fam (ideally the double stacks as i now have a butt-ton of those mags)
- current setups:
- gen 5 19/MOS - holosun (different one for astigmatism on the way), handle it grips, brass weight in handle, 3 or 4lb trigger
- gen 5 26 - ameriglo sights, kmm precision barrel, minus connector thingy, currently on the mx1 frame
- 17L classic - full on stock
- frankenglock - 26 frame, some ridic milled/ported slide, ported barrel (also has true precision barrel and stock for options) BUT don't worry abour this one - just figured I'd make one out of leftover parts and, if ever in legal state, chuck 'er into a chassis)
TLDR - is there another 9mm glock gen/model (or mods that can be made to the 19/26) that has the 17L classic's juju, but small enough to conceal carry?
