Aizawa Interrogates the Rat
Aizawa could be many things, most of them negative, but one of those things was being a detective. He was an underground hero, and among the many skills required for that job was being a decent detective, which meant remembering the small details.
So at first, he didn’t pay much attention to Katsuki’s claim that Izuku was Quirkless. But then the USJ happened, where villains brought in a monster with multiple Quirks, and suddenly Katsuki’s statements started bothering him.
That was why he decided to check Midoriya’s medical records.
He felt a pit form in his stomach when he saw how Midoriya obtained his Quirk right after the entrance exam. That was the last straw, so he went straight to the principal, because if he had noticed it, Nezu must have known even before the boy stepped into the academy for the first time.
So it wasn’t a surprise that Nezu was already waiting for him with the door open and a second cup of... coffee?
Okay, now this was weird. Nezu was a firm believer in the superiority of tea, so seeing him offer coffee made Aizawa let out a heavy sigh for the conversation that was about to follow.
Aizawa:
—I think it’s obvious why I’m here, so get to the point.
Nezu:
—Well, I assume you’re referring to whether Izuku has any connection to the League of Villains.
Aizawa nodded.
Nezu:
—I’ll start by saying no, Izuku Midoriya has nothing to do with the League of Villains. Before you interrupt me, denying the truth would only cause more problems in the long run. Yes, Izuku was given a Quirk. Who did it, how it was done, and the methods used are classified information, so that’s all I can tell you. But I can guarantee that we used a method that wasn’t illegal.
Aizawa:
—Wait. Why do you say “wasn’t illegal” instead of just saying “legal”?
Nezu:
—Hahaha, that’s why I like you. But to be honest, it’s because there simply aren’t laws covering something like this yet. Still, I can guarantee that unlike the villains’ methods, ours is far more moral. I promise you we would never experiment on a teenager just to give him multiple Quirks.
A few months later, during a joint exercise with Class B...
Aizawa:
—YOU DAMN RAT, YOU BETTER TELL ME THE WHOLE TRUTH!!
Aizawa ran through the hallways. Well, Nezu had his chance. The day had started well: his problem child was actually doing great. But just when he was about to get his rematch against Izuku, the kid suddenly sprouted black tendrils out of nowhere.
While everyone, including Izuku, was trying to understand what was happening, Aizawa remembered what Nezu had told him. And judging by the terrified look on Izuku’s face, the kid had no idea what was going on either.
So he went straight to the source of the problem.
Nezu sighed. This year had been unusually complicated: the USJ incident, the Sports Festival, Iida chasing after Stain, the training camp, Kamino, Toga infiltrating the license exams, Endeavor vs. the Nomu, the Shie Hassaikai, and now an entire city reduced to rubble.
And as the cherry on top, Izuku had just manifested a new Quirk, so Aizawa was understandably furious at him.
Nezu pulled out a bag of catnip and placed it next to his eucalyptus tea. Just as he was putting the bag away, Aizawa burst into the room.
Aizawa:
—What the...?
Nezu sighed.
Nezu:
—Do you want me to tell you the whole truth or not?
Aizawa nodded.
Nezu:
—It all started with two brothers...
