Echo - Player went missing playing the game

I don’t know if anyone here has been following the stuff around Echo, but I need to put this somewhere because it’s getting genuinely disturbing.

I came across the story of this developer named is Cedric Spooks Queen.

A few months ago he started playing and documenting his findings of a game called Echo. He was interested in building his own game and found a few to play as research. He blogged all his findings, but his findings and blog posts got weirder and weirder. At first it seemed harmless - weird symbols, hidden audio spectrograms, references to a place in the game called The Haven. But the deeper he got, the stranger his posts became.

He claimed Echo wasn’t procedurally generated like people thought. According to him, parts of the game “remembered” players. He believed The Haven was a hidden layer underneath the normal game world that only appeared if specific conditions were met over multiple sessions.

Some of the things he wrote before disappearing:

  • “The Haven isn’t a location. It’s where disconnected players end up.”
  • “NPCs started using my real username.”
  • “I found doors that weren’t there before.”

At first we thought it was just immersive ARG roleplay for the blog but doesn't look like it anymore.

The last blog post was uploaded at around 4AM and it was very cryptic and seems to be corrupted.

What really freaks me out is that people in the comments on his blog claim they saw him inside the game after he vanished. Not as a player tag but as an actual character.

I know how silly this sounds, but I’m posting because Cedric genuinely believed Echo was hiding something. He spent months documenting patterns, hidden files, and symbols connected to The Haven. And now his entire blog keeps changing.

Has anyone else been researching Echo, The Haven, or Cedric Spooks Queen?
