Seeking Recommendations: Community Story Development
Hi y'all, I'm hoping this is a good thread to post this question. However, if there's a more appropriate spot, please let me know in the comments so I can move this to a better place.
Over the past year, I've been developing a fantasy world and story on my own. It started out as a rough idea for a DnD campaign, but has taken several different turns after I decided I didn't enjoy being a DM. (I don't want to get too rambly about the actual details of the story here, but if it would be helpful in answering the question, I don't mind adding more description.)
The most fun I have had with this story has been talking through concepts with friends and bouncing different ideas around. It gave me the idea that this might be fun to do with an online community, rather than just one or two other people. The story won't be done for quite some time, but I'd prefer not to wait until it's complete to be able to share it with other folks who might enjoy it too.
My dilemma is that I'm not really sure how to approach doing this. I have a small YouTube channel that I started for 3D art, so I have a little experience with making videos. Yet, I'm not really 100% sure I only want to make content related to 3D, so I'd prefer to experiment with some other ideas. Could YouTube videos work as the primary format for this, or would you recommend some other platform or medium? I don't really engage with social media outside of YouTube very much, so I'm pretty much out of the loop when it comes to what other people are using, particularly for a purpose like this.
My goal is to eventually make some income from videos and posting so I can escape the torture that is my corporate day-job.
Thank you!
