Job with equity as part of the compensation

I am proceeding to the next stage of interview for a company. During my first screening with the recruiter, he mentioned, the company have no problems with 20-30% increment from my current yearly salary. But part of it will be in the form of equity. And might be a cut in the base salary (less cash, more equity)

This is something new to me, and didnt asked further, also because i am still at the initial stage of the interview. This is an international tech company with their stock price increase tremendously for the past few years, and iam mysepf not sure whther it is currently overvalued or not and how the stock valu would go in few years

I really need other people's opinions on this

  1. Would any of you accept this kind of offer

  2. I am not familiar with this type of compensation. What should i further ask diorng negotiation

  3. Regardles of the job offer, if i would invest about 1k usd, quarterly, on one of the tech giant, is this a good move, from investment point of view

Hope to hear everyone opinions/experience on this. Thanks in advance
