Is a U-bend/trap needed for dryer waste pipe?

My neighbour has bought a new heat pump dryer and you have the option to have a pipe to get rid of the condensation water but he's not got a pipe for the waste pipe to go into.

I'm going to pop out to get some soon but I'm not sure if I need to create a trap/U-bend or not? It'll be going straight to his drain where the sink and washer currently goes.

This year's cubs.

We generally have the same momma each year who lives behind our shed in her burrow. We thought we'd only got 2 cubs this year but it looks like she's got 4.

Our garden is undergoing a bit of work but we've got a stream that my partner built that goes to our 5000 litre pond. You can see one of the cubs drinking from it in one of the videos. The streams used by lots of birds to bathe and drink from.

I'll pop the rest of the videos in the comments if I can.
