Camping and insulin sensitivity
Okay so, im wondering if anyone else deals with this, ive spoke to my endo and diabetes care team about this and they all look at me like im nuts.
The jist of it is that after ive been out camping for about 8 hours my insulin sensitivity gets so high that I need to decrease my basal rate on my pump down from 22units a day to like 1.5 and I bolus like 1/10th of what I usually would for carbs. I dont excersise while im camping at all, im lazing around and snacking in my chair/hammock for typically 3 days, I sleep in a warm bed in my vehicle with my partner and I have to avoid doing the woohoo because the resulting low makes me feel like I'm on my way to the shadow realm reguardless of juice intake.
It usually takes me about 2-3 days to return to my regular basal/carb ratio after I get home.
Does anyone else deal with this or have any idea what the hecks going on? My old lady jokingly says that we need to cure my diabetes every time she wants to go camping and she knows shes about to hear Hella low alarms when we go.
