I am struggling with the idea that he might deserve another cat to keep him company, but we recently took him to a house with five dogs and two cats.
To our surprise, every time he saw one of the cats, he wanted to fight. He didn’t fight with the dogs, though. By the last day, he was even comfortable enough to sleep in the same room as them. (For some context, he was resting on a cat tree, got down to use the litter box, and then went back to the same room on his own, even with all the dogs there.)
I would love to have more pets, but this experience made me wonder if he’s actually happier as the only cat. Am I wrong to think that? Or is this kind of reaction just the initial stress, and does it usually improve over time?
