How big is the gap between P4 and M4 on average?

And does it really matter especially if the jump is from P3?

I was told that the M designation typically has a higher market rate than a P. But I find it hard to believe if a seasoned P3 applied to an M4 role that they’d get that big of a jump and effectively making their pay equivalent to that of a P4.
