Hey, long-term stalker of the subreddit. I am currently looking for a Rex to be used for my daily drive to work 87 km each way. Ideally I need the 54 KW third party pack. I live in Canada where we hit -15 regularly so that's a whole other problem for winter that I won't discuss now LOL.
I'm currently debating whether to get a 2017 model that has relevant software updates, LTE, better mounts and more importantly revisions on the compressor for the black death grenade thing. But if I'm going to be throwing down $10, 000 CAD on a new battery pack is it a waste on the 90ah cells?
Am I better off buying a 2014 for cheaps, buy a new battery pack. Possibly upgrade the reinforced mounts, ensure the software updates are completed. And again, more importantly, have the compressor serviced regularly. I don't really want to throw down thousands on a new compressor.
Oh and just for info I am completely off grid solar. The BMW i3 is the sweet spot for my solar generation and the Rex means I can get around on a cloudy day.
Any advice would be appreciated!
