Hey. What do you need to do with these cars (REx) if you need to leave it unused for several months? (Like anywhere from 3 to 9 months)
Any special procedures? Battery tenders? Gasoline stuff? etc?
Has anyone found a good way to cover the black roof in summer on the BMW i3?
I assume BMW chose the black roof to help absorb heat during the winter, since cabin heating uses more energy than cooling in an EV. But in the middle of summer, when I’m driving long distances, I’d rather not have the car absorbing extra heat unnecessarily; so I’m curious whether anyone has found an effective way to reduce roof heat absorption?
Edit: The original assumption about winter heating wasn't right, as it seems like BMW left the roof black simply for aesthetic rather than energy consumption concerns. The heat issue though is still real.
So I was packing up my 2019 i3 Rex and realized that I didn’t have any power at all. I last drove it 4 days ago and it still had about 50% range. Is replacing the 12V an easy DIY project or should I just get it towed to the dealer? I have a bimmercoder, but it’s at my house and I’m currently at my parents for the holiday.
Any advice would be appreciated. It’s never given me any issues before, and I really like it, but I’m definitely stressing out about it.
I found an i3 rex 2017 with 15k miles. A unicorn. I checked the battery and there's practically no degradation. I'm very eager to buy it... But, I'm concerned about parts and repairs (since the bmw stopped production) should I buy it?? What's your experience finding spare parts. Would like to know your thoughts. Currently have a civic hev and a 128ti 2023. I previously had an i3 rex 2017 but it was a lease and I love it. The only reason I'm having 2nd thoughts is due to the scarcity of pieces for a 10yrs old car.
I see a 2015 used i3 for sale but the owner says the max miles is 60? Does that seem low?
I pull into the garage and stop; press P on the shifter; and then turn-off the car.
When I then lift my foot off the brake pedal, the car rolls backward an inch or two. And makes a (somewhat loudish) "CLACK" sound as it 'hits' its final back-rolling stop.
Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? Or is it fine?
Hi everyone. I just purchased and installed a MagSafe charger and realized it’s always on.
Does anyone else have this set up? If so, has it ever run down your 12v battery? I’m just wondering if I should unplug the USB-C charger when I shut off the car (which I know would kind of defeat the convenience of it).
What's the best way to keep the interior of my car heated while I am fast charging over winter months?
I unsuccessfully have tried turning the car on and the AC lights up but nothing but cold air comes out.
The APP no longer works for me 2016 model, so unsure what to do in that case as well.
I always hesitate to have any contact with the local BMW store due to the aggro and the expense. But I got a "no cost safety recall" notice today for my 2015 BEV. Anyone know whether it's legit?
Some LED‘s in my i3 are not working. The picture is just one example. It effects multiple buttons.
I went to the dealer once to get it fixed but suddenly everything worked when I arrived there.
Now it‘s back. Has anybody seen this before?
I got my car a few months ago and just now discovered that I have the integration unit already. I love my car even more now!!
Going rally inspired but kind of like the OEM wheels.
I have a 2018 i3, and to lately it seems like the A/C does not blow as cold as when new.
First is there any indicator, or way to check with bimmercode what refrigerant level is? I understand that normally there is not, but seeing as how the battery is refrigerant cooled, I thought there could be.
Second has anybody ever gone to the dealer and asked for a check/refill?
I’ve seen plenty of threads about the compressors failing, especially pre LCI cars, so I’m wondering if it might be a good preventative maintenance idea.
Hi all!
My CarPlay in my 2020 i3 is not full screen. On the left I have my normal CarPlay and then on the right I have the BMW iDrive software. Disabling split screen in the iDrive simply takes away all info from the r/h side of the screen but the CarPlay still only takes up half of the screen. Is there any way to go full screen?
Thanks in advance!
Saw this the other night while driving home, mild panic attack. Luckily it kicked on automatically around 8 percent battery - I assumed it was unavailable because I tried to start it around 10 percent. I went to start it today, same error.
Was working fine a couple weeks back. Got an oil change a month ago. Any ideas? I need this to work or else I'm in trouble later.
2014 i3
So this key cover came with my 2016 BMW i3 and I tried searching for this thing to see if anybody else had one and I found very few results. It is in very bad shape right now; it’s ripped and worn out so I don’t know if it would be worth anything, but please tell me if anyone else has this.
Recently got a second hand i3 here in the UK, very happy with it. 2019, capacity seems to be about 160-170, sometimes I can get more. Driving mostly on Eco Pro.
I noticed on my way home from London to Devon that the map is quite old and outdated, it thought there was still a roundabout near Stonehenge where there isn't one anymore.
I've got a 15% offer on these 2 packages available!- is it worth buying as a one off to update my naps? If so, it there any benefit to buying the connected drive over the straight up map update? I do still use Waze on a mount as I like having the speed zone warnings which my car doesn't do. But I like the EcoPro navigation option to help me get the most miles per kwh, pretty religiously getting almost 5 miles per kwh.

Any way to get 'Volume' 'Play-Pause' Skip Forward- Back' onto the steering wheel controls?
Can this maybe be done with BimmerCode?
