Post-Ectopic HSG experience
I've seen a lot of chatter about ectopics and HSG and I just had one two days ago, so I thought I'd share my experience. I'm 37 years old, and have had one miscarriage before this in November '25 and no living children.
I was diagnosed with an ectopic in February 2026, and had 2 shots of MTX to resolve the pregnancy as my HCG was at 4800. I was about 7-8 weeks along; it took a while to diagnose because I went to the doctor in January after a positive test and bleeding/heavy cramping, but the nurse didn't see anything on the ultrasound and sent me home. I fought to see the doctor in early Feb and she found it in my right tube.
HCG finally went to zero in April and I was advised to wait 2 cycles for an HSG to check if tubes are open. I took 800 mg of ibuprofen about an hour before the test. I definitely felt pain when they inserted the catheter through my cervix, but after that I didn't feel any pain when the dye was injected, as my tubes were both open. The whole process including insertion and removal took around 5 minutes, and the doctor was immediately able to see that both tubes are open, and we are clear to TTC.
I wish all of you luck on this journey - it is long and hard, and not something I wish anyone to go through. I hope you all get your rainbow babies soon!!
