I recommend the game because it is very fun, but with some reservations.

Some of the game's innovations are great, such as the tunnel mechanics, helicopters, atmosphere, water interaction, and aquatic vehicles. The gameplay feels smooth and engaging, and the helicopter controls are intuitive and relatively easy to learn.

However, I feel the game is currently extremely unfinished, poorly optimized, buggy, and laggy. This can be overlooked if the developers manage to fix these issues within the next couple of weeks.

In addition, the game is lacking a lot of content and contains several historical inaccuracies:

  • The Mosin sniper rifle's PU 3.5x scope reticle is incorrect.
  • The Vietnamese faction can only build tunnels, even though they were famous for constructing improvised bamboo traps, punji pits, booby traps, and other defensive obstacles. Their absence is very noticeable.
  • I did not see a Type 56 SKS in the game.
  • The iconic MAT-49 is missing, along with several other French weapons that were used by the Viet Cong.
  • The Viet Cong and the PAVN should be separate factions with different arsenals. The PAVN should have access to more modern weapons such as AKs and Type 56 SKSs, while the Viet Cong should have access to leftover French and Japanese weapons from the First Indochina War.
  • Australians also participated in the war and used weapons such as the L1A1 and several of their own distinctive guns.
  • The American faction is missing weapons such as the M14, Colt Commando, Browning M2, and others.
  • Finally, there was only one map available during the playtest, so I do not know whether more maps are planned or already exist.

For these reasons, if the game launches with this lack of content while still suffering from performance issues, especially at its current price point, then I cannot recommend it. In that case, it would be better to play Rising Storm Vietnam, which already includes everything I mentioned above, including helicopters, traps, and a vast variety of weapons, while also offering realistic gameplay without the lag.

PLEASE TAKE INSPIRATION FROM RISING STORM VIETNAM.
