Hello, I'm sorry if this question sounds too obvious, but I'm trying to understand what's happening here, as a beginner. I'm trying to help a friend that uses WSL to move all her WSL-related files from C disk to D disk. Before doing that, I wanted to try to do it on my computer, which doesn't have any meaningful WSL-related files.

I installed WSL and Ubuntu from cmd commands, and then transfered it all from C to D disk using the commands:

wsl --export (to create a .tar file of the distro which was in the C disk)

wsl --import (to install a new distro on the D disk, using the .tar file)

wsl --unregister (to delete the distro that was on the C disk)

It worked, but the reason for doing this is to clean up C disk space, and I wasn't sure if I actually deleted the stuff from the C disk, so I tried to delete the WSL files in the D disk (to make sure that the command --unregister actually deletes stuff). The problem is that it doesn't look like it's deleted, because the folder in which I installed the new distro has a file called ext4.vhdx. For reference, the .tar file had 1.5GB and the ext4 file has 1.9GB. Looks to me that the distro haven't been deleted, nor the space have been cleaned up, it looks that the distro is just there but inaccessible. I haven't been able to find the same old ext4 file on the C disk, only on D.

As much as I consider myself tech-savvy, I'm not linux-savvy or SO-savvy by any means. I just want to make sure that I know how to clean up space in the C disk by transferring the distro (and all related files) to the D disk. Any help is really appreciated.

EDIT: when using the command wsl -l -v on cmd, it answers that I don't have any linux distro installed.

Before doing all that, I made sure that wsl wasn't running by typing wsl -l -v.

The D disk, which has the ext4 file, isn't partitioned. It only has 1 partition, which is destined to Windows

Basicamente a pergunta é o título. Se é preciso declarar uso presente ou passado, posso rodar por declarar ter simplesmente experimentado? Nunca tive o hábito, não gostei quando experimentei e nunca mais pretendo usar.
