It took 1 entire year

For some background, my brother offered me a room to live with him and his gf to help me out which I’m eternally grateful for. He’s the best brother ever. But he has a dog that I hate with every fiber of my being. It even nipped me and I have a scar from it bc it randomly lunged at me after I came out of my room with food in my hand that it wanted. So that’s what really sparked my hatred.

Anyway fast forward a year, all I’ve done is ignore it and whenever it sits far away from me I walk up to it and drop a piece of chicken for it as a reward. And now, for the most part, it’s been ignoring me. I’m genuinely so happy. All I wanted was to be left alone and not have its face all up in my personal space, for it to not take my food, for it to just be anywhere but near me. So that’s that. That’s my success story. And I’m pretty happy with it.

what should I do to better prioritize hijab?

I have been to the ER twice now for seizures yesterday was a very terrible day for me , and even tho it was intense I still had the presence of mind to know I should put my hijab back on after it slides off but after having seizures im usually so agitated and upset that I don’t bother to put my hijab back on. I know that I should but I don’t bc I’m so overwhelmed with everything on me like the electrodes and wires and IV and stuff that I just get angry and throw it at the end of the bed. I feel like maybe someone else’s perspective or advice on the matter would help motivate me to prioritize hijab in these situations cuz I do feel really guilty abt it.

Any tips for dealing with exhaustion?

Today was a terrible day, if anyone has any tips to quell the exhaustion that comes with seizures I’d greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance!

I feel sad being ostracized from others but sometimes it has its benefits

I love thrifting, it’s one of my favorite hobbies bc it’s like shopping in others’ closets. Also there’s so much clothing that you’d never find in stores plus it’s so sustainable, but that’s besides the point, i’m very visibly Muslim, so I do feel the stares and I also can tell that ppl actively avoid me. It makes me so sad, but at the same time. It’s so awesome cuz when I look through a bin or a rack I have it all to myself.

My mom was harassed

My mom is a hijabi and was shopping for some breathable modest clothes and an older white lady across the rack screamed out “omg a f*cking muslim” and my mom said “wow what an education” and the other lady got louder and was yelling abt how she has to get away before my mom explodes.

My mom was crying at that point bc it was so humiliating for her and everyone was staring. I did ask my mom why she didn’t video it and it made me even sadder. It’s cause she didn’t want to cause a scene and she didn’t want to post it bc it seems like every time someone harasses a Muslim woman and it goes viral they get a bunch of donations and she didnt want to be the reason a hateful person gets a payout for harassing someone. Especially cuz it seems like it would only serve to incite more ppl to be more open with their hatred.

focal aware seizure+sternum rub combo

I was twitching, jerking and my eyes were stuck looking up but I was completely aware and could feel everything. just couldn’t respond or do anything. Unfortunately other ppl can’t tell. So I just had the shit rubbed out of my sternum by my mom and felt every bit of it. ow.. owie.. ouch.. are sternum rubs even necessary??

Does anyone else have suicidal thoughts whilst on keppra

For background I’m 19 just began having seizures like episodes,, I’ve been on it for almost a week now I feel like that’s a rlly short time to be having side effects but for the past few days I’ve been tired, don’t want to do anything, and today was so so bad. Usually when my younger sister says terrible things like how im useless, an embarrassment etc etc I can brush it off, cuz she’s 14, she’s bound to have days where she’s says mean shit but earlier I couldn’t. I just couldn’t stop crying and thinking terrible thoughts. I don’t have a history of thinking like that or having the urges to harm myself. Is anyone else going through this, and is this typical?

Possible epilepsy

I’m 19 i don’t think I’ve ever had seizures before in my life. But ig now all of a sudden they decided to pop up. I’m on keppra and have a referral for a neurologist, haven’t seen one yet cuz of insurance and stuff, but my mom is helping me out so I’ll hopefully see one soon.

But I’m just so confused how out of nowhere I just started having seizures. Im hoping it was just some weird stress vasovagal thing but it doesn’t seem that way anymore. I’m so confused how in one day it’s like everything has been completely derailed. That and I feel so much slower, like my mind is just fogged constantly. Idk if it’s a side effect of keppra but I just can’t think straight, even typing this out is taking so long bc I keep making mistakes and losing track of what I’m saying. I want to cry I don’t feel like myself.
