Alireza Appreciation Post

A recent post decided to rip Alireza to shreds for some reason. So, I decided to make an appreciation post celebrating his achievements. Youngest ever to reach 2800 elo. Has reached world #2 in Rapid, world #1 in Blitz, and world #2 in Classical. Winner of two Sinquefield Cups, two Grand Chess Tours, and the Grand Swiss. Won multiple Iranian Championships as a child. Friend of Danya. No one truly knows who he is inside. As far as a modern chess player, he is one of the greats.

Problem with the EWC qualifier system

I think it’s weird that we still don’t know who all is playing the EWC. They made the qualification process needlessly convoluted. The participation list should be way more complete than it is. One reason for the nonsense is Magnus and Lazavik being in the Chesscom Open when they were already qualified to the EWC. How about if they snag spots when they're already qualified, give it to whoever was 4th and 5th in the Chesscom Open. then we’d have two more players locked in, also… after watching the Csquared podcast, it‘s funny but I think Fabi is hoping that he doesn’t qualify so he doesn’t have to choose. Now that it seems like the dates are not changing, I think he’ll be so relieved to not have to play for Team Liquid. Because TL is a big deal and to choose to not represent them would be bad.
