Is this a sign of the algorithm working?

Hello! I’m very new to YouTube and have only been making long form video essay and review content about games for a little over a month now, so I’m still trying to understand how YouTube pushes out videos from new creators and tests to find their audience.
Most of my videos are between an hour to an hour and a half. I noticed my first video got a big boom in views, 333 with 60 hours of watch time, and after than views and watch time consistently declined with each video. My most recent video has performed pretty well within 3 days of uploading at 83 views and I’ve noticed the average view duration has consistently gone up. Is this a sign of the algorithm getting a better understanding of the kind of audience that would like my content? What else can I do to help it find that audience?

I made a long form video about Devil May Cry 3.

For the upcoming 25th anniversary I’ve been covering each of the games in the series along with affiliated side content and just completed DMC3.

I was surprised to find a lot of aspects of the game that annoyed me no longer bothered me this time, and a lot of the rough edges felt like they’d washed away. Thanks for letting me share this here and let me know what you think.
