I have had perineal itching and pain for the past 2-3 years. I have been on anti fungals, yeast infection medicine, steroids which mildly helped until I stopped them then the itching came right back, gave up hope and didn’t go back to the dermatologist for another year then tried Eucrisa which did nothing and now my derm wants to try one more thing, Tacrolimus before doing the punch biopsy.
I do have eczema and have had it my whole life but it’s mainly been on my armpits/neck/ears never in the genital area, this just started in the last few years and since nothing is helping it and her mention of possible lichen schlerosis and finally looking it up it sounds more like this than eczema.
The itching is intense and all consuming most days but it’s only in my perineum area nowhere else which leads me to believe it’s lichen schlerosis and not eczema.
Does it get better? Have meds helped people? Is the itching just a thing I’m going to deal with forever?
