I’m 25 years old, interested in joining the NJ Army National Guard. I likely would go 11B route after the research i’ve done so far. Was anyone in the guard that then went into law enforcement on the outside? did going through bct make the academy easier? What mos in the guard gets the most activation/deployments. can you volunteer for deployments in the guard specifically with a 11b mos? why was the best and worst parts about being in the guard for you? thank you in advance for any advice/tips/etc.

So i’m 25 and interested in joining the NJ national guard as 11b. and i’m wondering what i should expect if i do so in terms of training/activation/deployments etc. As far as i understand NJ guard units are in a 5-6 year deployment cycle. Is there anyway during those 6 years to voluntarily deploy more? specifically asking if joined as a 11B. I’m also interested in becoming law enforcement one day and would like to know if there’s any guardsman who became cops after joining the guard. or did you have more job opportunities after joining the guard in another aspect?
