I am renting in an apartment with a gas stove. Unfortunately, there is no vent whatsoever so I am worried about the fumes from the gas when cooking. Even opening a window isn't as helpful because we are on the basement level.

This got me thinking about alternatives to using the gas stove. I've never used a hot plate so I am not sure if it is a good substitute to use in my cooking? If not, what are my options? I use the stove a lot and want to cook more instead of using the microwave to heat frozen meals. Also, the oven is broken (a whole other saga).

I'm trying to understand the effects of the ongoing war on DC home gas prices (aka cooking, water heater). From what I understand, DC gas is domestic natural gas. Does that mean it is not affected? Or it is, but not in a way I understand?

Will it affect Pepco rates in any way?

My roommate wishes to split utilities and have me pay him by cash. He refuses any other method and does not want to use an app. To me, this is difficult because I have to go to the atm which I wouldn't otherwise do, it is riskier (potential for lost cash), and it would require me to break larger bills from the atm into smaller exact amounts ( e.g. if the bill is 84.67) which is also a hassle for me as I'd have to make change.

Am I being unreasonable? If he won't budge, what steps should I take to make this less onerous? I already know I'd have to push for a receipt and take pics of whatever I pay.

Has anyone purchased this fruit in DC? Where would I go to find it? Including a wikipedia link in case people have seen it but don't know what it is called.
