Hi everyone!
I’m currently waiting for my first 3D printer to arrive (a Bambu Lab A1). I’ve spent the last few days lurking in this sub, and I’m absolutely blown away by the quality some of you are achieving. I have a ton of questions and could really use some guidance from the experts here.
Just a heads-up: I won’t be printing tiny miniatures (at least for now), but rather statues around 15-20 cm (6-8 inches). My first project is going to be this LeChuck:
Here are my main doubts:
- I bought a 0.2mm nozzle. Does it make sense to use it for high-detail parts (like the face and hands) and use the 0.4mm for larger parts like the legs/pants? Or is it better to stick to one for the whole model?
- Do I need to recalibrate the printer and the filament every single time I swap the nozzle?
- I’ve seen the Obscuranox 2.0 settings mentioned a lot, and the results look incredible. I’ve already bought the recommended filament (Sunlu PLA+ 2.0 HS). Am I on the right track, or would Bambu PLA Matte be a better choice for hiding layer lines on statues of this size?
- Are there specific settings/profiles optimized for larger statues? I’m in no rush at all, so I don't mind long print times if it means getting the best possible finish.
I have plenty of other questions, but these are the ones I’m most curious about right now. Thanks in advance for any help!
